PART ONE and PART THREE are available! Why start in the middle?

Doug lay on his stomach on the roof, empty Chinese food paper boxes laying around him. His binoculars were down and he was reading a manual on using a sniper rifle. But his mind wasn’t engaged on that.

He was thinking about last night’s disaster.

He went bar hopping, trying to forget the sock monkeys staring at him. There was no way his target was aware of him, he was certain of that. But for some reason, those pinprick black sock monkey eyes stuck in his head. So he figured the best way to forget about it was by hitting the bars and picking up some floozy.

It did not go as planned.

The Rabbit’s Last Stand SIDEQUEST – The Short Career of Doug McDuff (Part One)

Let’s call this story “The Rabbit’s Last Stand”-adjacent. It pertains to the world, but maybe not the story. So here is my little digression while I get the longer story together. PART TWO and PART THREE are available too!

Once Doug finished disassembling his Nemesis rifle and packing it into his case, he sat down on the rough fabric chair in his hotel room. His back was already hurting.

He’d scored well enough on the ranges, spent years practicing. It was finally time to enter his new career. He’d always wanted to be an assassin. It was something he’d dreamt of since he was a child. He’d never had any problems hurting things.

So far, we have assassins, scientists, more assassins, master thieves, demolition experts, underworld contacts, medics, bankers, and a seriously dead tiger (thought I forgot about that, did you?) Is there any more goodness can I stuff into this burrito of intrigue? I DON’T KNOW!
